Title: Senior Software Engineer (JVM/Backend) – FinTech SaaS
Location: New York, NY (Remote Friendly)
Salary: $140,000 – $160,000 + Benefits
The Opportunity:
I am currently representing a high-growth FinTech firm that is transforming the $16 trillion structured finance market. My client provides critical transparency to the global economy by building sophisticated analytical tools and data-driven platforms used by over 400 of the world’s leading financial institutions. Their mission is to prevent future financial crises by equipping lenders and Wall Street investors with the highest quality data and risk-assessment technology available.
The Role:
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will join a mission-driven engineering team focused on scaling a modern SaaS platform. You will work on high-volume data products, including complex Cashflow APIs, ensuring that massive datasets are accessible and actionable for hedge funds and banks.
What you’ll do:
- Architect & Build: Drive the development of robust backend systems using Kotlin and Spring Boot, while maintaining high-performance REST and GraphQL endpoints.
- Collaborate: Work in a cross-functional environment alongside Product, Design, and Data Engineering teams to translate complex user stories into technical reality.
- Modernize: Contribute to a stack that values open-source innovation, moving away from legacy Scala/Play components into a forward-thinking architecture.
- Industry Deep-Dive: Gain an insider’s understanding of the mechanics behind mortgages, consumer loans, and the fundamental systems of personal finance.
What you bring to the table:
- Engineering Excellence: At least 6+ years of professional backend experience with a focus on fundamentals like system design, testability, and long-term code health.
- Data Expertise: Deep proficiency in SQL and experience architecting data-heavy products with high scalability requirements.
- Learning Mindset: A genuine curiosity for the financial sector. You don’t need to be an expert on day one, but you should be eager to master complex financial mathematics and terminology.
- Tech Stack: Strong JVM background (Kotlin or Java preferred). Experience with GCP, BigQuery, or Kubernetes is a significant plus.
Bonus Points for:
- Exposure to data tools like Spark, Pandas, or R.
- Experience in the structured products or lending space.
- Familiarity with full-stack concepts (React, Node.js).
Why join this team?
- My client offers a highly competitive benefits package designed for a remote-first workforce, including:
- Work-Life Balance: Unlimited PTO policy.
- Professional Growth: A $1,000 annual L&D stipend and a culture that encourages workshops and hackathons.
- Wellness: A monthly fitness allowance ($138/mo) plus a yearly $1,650 wellness fund for home equipment.
- Family First: Generous paid parental leave (up to 16 weeks for primary caregivers).
- Stability: Comprehensive medical/dental/vision and 401(k) options.
