About The Role
The Software
Engineer,
Data at Airtable plays a vital role in advancing the company's
data engineering capabilities. This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical
data pipelines that support decision-making, product analytics, and AI initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including
Data Science, Analytics, Product, and
Engineering, to translate complex business needs into scalable and trustworthy
data solutions. As part of the Product & AI
Data Infrastructure team, you will be instrumental in building foundational
data systems that power Airtable’s AI features, measure AI adoption, and facilitate AI-powered
data discovery. Your work will directly influence the company's strategic decisions and product innovations, especially as Airtable integrates more AI-native functionalities.
Qualifications
- 3-8+ years of professional experience designing, creating, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to write and optimize complex queries
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and ETL processes
- Experience working with large-scale data systems and ensuring data quality and reliability
- Familiarity with AI tools, including large language models (LLMs), and their application in data engineering
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly through written reports and visualizations
- A curious mindset with a passion for exploring how AI is transforming data engineering
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support business analytics, product insights, and AI initiatives
- Develop and optimize foundational business tables and data marts for company-wide analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Engineering to understand and fulfill data needs
- Implement AI-powered data discovery tools and integrate AI functionalities into existing data infrastructure
- Instrument and measure AI product usage, surfacing key metrics to executive stakeholders
- Establish and enforce best practices and pattern standards across the data stack to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Continuously improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of the data warehouse
- Partner with data scientists and analytics engineers to translate ambiguous business questions into actionable data solutions
- Leverage AI tools for pipeline development, debugging, and data exploration to enhance efficiency and innovation
