About Vivatra

Vivatra is a Belgrade-based food R&D startup. We support our clients in developing new food products — from concept to finished product, including product and process development, shelf-life determination, and physico-chemical and microbiological analysis.

Our Product Design Engine (PDE) is where our know-how becomes software: an AI-assisted platform that turns a product brief into a complete technical food specification — recipe, nutritional values, regulatory compliance, shelf-life prediction. We're in Phase 2 of Raising Starts at Science Technology Park Belgrade, and we're building the team that takes PDE from working platform to product. Now we're looking for the person who will take care of the platform in-house.

About the role

You'll be our first software engineer, joining a team of two food technology engineers and working alongside our external team of experienced software developers.

What you'll do

• Build and ship features across our Django backend and Next.js frontend
• Write automated tests for platform outputs and keep the platform secure, scalable, and reliable
• Own data ingestion and data hygiene (PostgreSQL)
• Work with our external development team on deployment and security on Azure
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation
• Create self-service onboarding materials so clients can start without hand-holding
• Support our clients and make sure their questions get answered fast

What we're looking for

• 1–3 years of engineering experience building and deploying web applications
• Solid foundations in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with Django, RESTful APIs, and relational databases
• Experience with React/Next.js
• Comfortable with Git and basic DevOps practices
• Someone who asks "how do I know this is correct?" before shipping
• Clear communication with people outside your discipline — you'll work with food scientists daily
• Based in Belgrade, Serbia

Nice to have

• Azure experience
• Experience building tools for scientific, laboratory, or educational environments
• Interest in food, science, or building tools for real-world industry
