About the Company
An early-stage AI security startup is developing tools that help companies keep their AI products safe, secure, and trustworthy. The team is working toward its first customers and is looking for engineers who can contribute directly to the product and take ownership of their work from the beginning.
About the Role
The Software Engineer will work across the full technology stack, including a TypeScript and Node.js backend, PostgreSQL data layer, cloud deployment, and React-based web application. Rather than focusing on narrowly defined tasks, you will own features from database design through user interface development, testing, and deployment.
This is a full-time, remote-first position suited to someone who can make sound technical decisions, work independently, and build software with security and quality in mind. As one of the early engineering hires, you will also contribute to product development and help shape the team's engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
•Build and ship full-stack features using TypeScript across the API, database, and web application.
•Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL schemas and the data layer supporting the product.
•Create clean, responsive, and usable interfaces with React.
•Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and REST APIs.
•Deploy applications to a modern cloud environment and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines.
•Write automated tests to maintain software quality and reduce the risk of regressions.
•Consider potential security issues during development and test for vulnerabilities.
•Take ownership of features from initial implementation through production deployment.
•Contribute to product decisions and help establish engineering practices as the company grows.
Required Qualifications
•Demonstrable evidence of software development ability through a portfolio, GitHub projects, shipped side projects, open-source contributions, Capture the Flag (CTF) achievements, or software used by real users.
•Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript and Node.js, with a solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
•Working knowledge of REST APIs, relational databases, PostgreSQL, SQL, and data modeling.
•Frontend development skills with React; familiarity with Next.js is preferred.
•A security-conscious approach to software development, including the ability to anticipate potential problems and test for them.
•Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and take ownership of features without relying on a predefined backlog.
•No specific degree or minimum number of years of professional experience is required. Candidates are evaluated on their demonstrated skills and the software they have built.
Preferred Qualifications
•Interest in or experience with artificial intelligence and large language model (LLM) applications.
•Background in cybersecurity or application security.
•Experience with cloud platforms, serverless technologies, or CI/CD pipelines.
•A track record of delivering software projects end to end, supported by demonstrable work.
Salary & Benefits
•Base Salary: $80,000–$120,000, depending on skills.
•Equity: Meaningful early-stage equity.
•Employment Type: Full-time.
•Work Arrangement: Fully remote.
The position offers direct collaboration with the team and substantial ownership of product development as the company grows.
Background Check
All selected candidates must undergo rigorous background screening before employment due to the sensitive nature of the company's work.
