About Groove

Groove is a digital musculoskeletal health platform that helps older adults with chronic conditions (osteoporosis, arthritis, chronic pain) reduce pain and build strength, mobility, and balance through AI-powered remote coaching and movement therapy.

We’re a small, early-stage team backed by fantastic investors, and entering at an exciting inflection point. After our initial launch, we’re now able to serve patients across major insurance channels in California, including Medicare, Aetna, Anthem, and Humana

We're building something that genuinely changes how people experience aging and chronic diseases. If that matters to you, keep reading.

The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Engineer to help build and scale the core technology behind Groove. This is a highly cross-functional, full-stack role.

You’ll work on problems that sit at the intersection of AI systems, healthcare workflows, and consumer product design: building reliable agentic workflows for clinicians, designing software that supports real-world care operations, and creating patient experiences that drive daily engagement and long-term outcomes.

This is an opportunity to join at the ground floor, own major parts of the product and architecture, and help define how engineering operates as we grow.

What You'll Do

Build production AI systems for clinical workflows

  • Design and build agentic workflows that help clinicians and coaches deliver personalized care at scale.
  • Build human-in-the-loop systems where AI can draft recommendations, surface insights, and automate repetitive work while keeping clinicians in control.
  • Improve the reliability, quality, and safety of AI outputs through evaluation, prompt/system design, structured workflows, and feedback loops.
  • Work on problems like orchestration, context retrieval, decision support, and trust in AI-generated suggestions.

Develop features for world class patient experience

  • Build product experiences that patients use daily for exercise, progress tracking, messaging, and habit formation.
  • Tackle the technical and product challenge of creating software that is simple, motivating, and highly usable for an older adult population.
  • Own features end-to-end across frontend, backend, and data systems, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and product quality

Build software for real-world healthcare operations

  • Develop internal tools and platform infrastructure for clinician scheduling, care operations, billing workflows, and clinical data integrations.
  • Build software that connects messy real-world operational workflows with a clean product experience.
  • Help design the systems layer that allows a small clinical team to deliver high-quality care at scale.

Who You Are
  • Strong product engineer: You can go from ambiguous problem to shipped product, and you care as much about user experience as implementation details.
  • Scrappy and resourceful: You thrive in early-stage environments, can work through ambiguity, and know how to make progress quickly.
  • Mission-driven: You’re excited by the chance to build technology at the intersection of healthcare, exercise, and AI.
  • AI-forward: You’re genuinely interested in using the latest AI tools and techniques to improve products, workflows, and team velocity.

Background
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Full stack engineer who have built products in Python and NextJS (or react)
  • Experience working at an early-stage startup or in a similarly fast-paced environment

Bonus points if you:

  • Have experience in healthcare or health tech
  • Have worked on AI-powered products
  • Passionate about design, UX, and best-in-class front end experiences
  • Care personally about exercise, movement, or helping people live healthier lives

Why join Groove

Over 120 million adults in the U.S. live with musculoskeletal and related chronic conditions that could benefit from clinical exercise, movement support, and more consistent care. For many people, including our own families, these conditions have a major impact on daily life - yet our healthcare system cannot support the ongoing care needs of this population

We’re building a product that gives everyone a clinician in their pocket — someone guiding them to move better, feel stronger, and stay engaged in their health every day.

We are now covered by insurance making it accessible to 70 million Medicare members in the U.S

This is a chance to help build a category-defining company at the intersection of healthcare, AI, and consumer-grade product design. If we get this right, define a new model of care.
