About The Role
As a Full-stack Developer at Nelnet, you will play a pivotal role in building the next-generation platform within the lending industry. This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining
cloud-native applications utilizing
microservices architecture and leading-edge technologies. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into scalable, efficient solutions. Your work will directly impact millions of customers by creating innovative products that enhance their financial and educational experiences. The role requires active participation in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding,
testing, and deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables aligned with enterprise standards.
In addition, you will partner with product and design teams to craft seamless product experiences, promote architectural initiatives, and contribute to continuous process improvements. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic,

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience delivering enterprise-class web applications
- At least 3 years of recent experience working with ES6/7 JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar technologies
- 3+ years of experience developing single-page applications using frameworks such as React, Angular, or Ember
- Proven experience developing and maintaining microservices architectures
- Experience building, maintaining, and evolving development processes and environments (SCM, CI/CD, build tools, deployment tools)
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based development, testing, and deployment environments
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies including unit, functional, stub, and end-to-end testing
- Practical knowledge of RESTful API development and consumption
- Deep understanding of the full web technology stack (HTTP, cookies, caching, REST)
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, or GitHub
- Proficiency with Material.io, HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS, Bootstrap, and cross-browser development
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming, JavaScript core concepts, asynchronous programming, and promises
- Strong database skills including complex query creation and best practices
- Experience architecting solutions from infrastructure to application levels
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Passion for writing clean, scalable, and high-performance code
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve cloud-native web applications using microservices architecture
- Collaborate with product and design teams to create engaging and effective user experiences
- Participate actively in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, coding, testing, and deployment
- Implement and promote best practices in coding, testing, and deployment processes
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable development, test, and production environments in cloud platforms
- Contribute to architectural decisions balancing long-term scalability with immediate customer needs
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs to ensure seamless integration across systems
- Utilize CI/CD tools to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
- Maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and security
- Engage in continuous learning and knowledge sharing to stay current with industry trends and technologies
