About Netop

Netop builds secure remote access solutions trusted by organizations in retail, finance, healthcare, industrial operations, and critical infrastructure. With a security-first architecture and strong alignment to Zero Trust principles, our systems run across cloud and on-prem environments and must meet high standards of reliability, compliance, and operational safety.

We operate a modern cloud SaaS platform (Netop Portal) and a mature on-premise product line (Netop Remote Control). Our infrastructure spans AWS, a few outgoing VMware ESXi systems, Entra ID, internal VPNs, and multi-environment deployments. Quality, stability, and automation are core to everything we do.

Job Information

  • Team: On-Premise Engineering
  • Level: L3 – Owning (Entry-level L3 with 6-month growth trajectory)
  • Reports to:
  • Location: Romania, Remote Friendly
  • Type: Full-time

Your Role

We’re hiring a Software Engineer (L3) to own and deliver components within the Netop Remote Control stack — a cross-platform suite composed of the Host, Guest, Gateway/Relay, and various helper services. This is a mature, complex system with deep OS integrations, custom networking protocols, and decades of engineering refinement.

You’ll work across native C++ codebases for Windows, Linux, and macOS, taking ownership of features and modules throughout the development lifecycle. This is an entry-level, L3 position — you’ll start by owning well-defined components and progressively take on more complex subsystems, security hardening initiatives, and architectural contributions over your first 6 months.

We don’t care about “years of experience” — we care about strong C++ fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to reason methodically about complex, multi-platform code.

Soft Skills

  • Enjoys solving deep technical problems involving systems, networks, security, and OS internals
  • Ability to research unfamiliar areas thoroughly and evaluate technical solutions
  • Strong interest in learning the mechanics of a mature, complex codebase
  • Ability to understand detailed product and technical specifications
  • Clear communication and collaborative mindset
  • Self-driven, disciplined, capable of managing tasks independently
  • High respect for maintainability, secure coding, and code quality standards

Required

Hard Skills

  • Strong CS foundation
    • Memory management, threading, IPC, locking strategies
    • Deep understanding of OS concepts (processes, signals, scheduling, permissions)
    • Networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, TLS, session negotiation, NAT traversal)
  • Programming & Systems
    • Strong C++ skills (modern standard preferred; ability to navigate legacy code is essential)
    • Cross-platform development on Windows and Linux (macOS a strong plus)
    • Experience with multi-process, multi-threaded architecture
    • Confident debugging of complex issues (race conditions, memory corruption, deadlocks)
    • Competence working with:
      • Screen capture pipelines
      • Input injection
      • Compression/encoding
      • Event-driven systems
      • Real-time or near-real-time data flows
  • Security & Protocols
    • Understanding of secure coding practices and buffer safety
    • Familiarity with encryption libraries (OpenSSL, libsodium, mbedTLS, etc.)
    • Experience with secure channel setup (TLS handshakes, key exchange, cert validation)
  • Build & Toolchain
    • CMake, Conan, and multi-platform build workflows
    • Git-based version control
    • CI/CD concepts and artifact pipelines
Nice to Have

  • Experience with static & dynamic analysis tools (Valgrind, Coverity, ASan/TSan)
  • Knowledge of remote desktop technologies (RDP, VNC, custom protocols)
  • Experience building or maintaining standalone daemons/services
  • Experience with Intel vPro / AMT integrations
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering or profiling legacy native code
  • Knowledge of sandboxing, privilege separation, or secure desktop APIs

Responsibilities

  • Big Impact, Fast: Join a team where your ideas don’t just sit on a whiteboard — they get tested, launched, and iterated quickly.
  • Rapid Learning Cycles: Exposure to constant experimentation, A/B testing, and real-time feedback that will sharpen your skills fast.
  • Ownership from Day One: You’ll have the freedom to try bold ideas and the responsibility to see them through.
  • Collaborative Builders: Work with curious, driven teammates who thrive on solving tough problems together.
  • Growth-Minded Culture: We celebrate wins, learn from failures, and keep pushing for what’s next.
  • Flexibility & Autonomy: Work where and how you’re most productive — we trust you to deliver results.
  • Future-Facing Perks: Competitive compensation, ongoing learning support, and tools that let you move at startup speed.

Schedule & Location

  • Remote-friendly with a flexible schedule
  • Occasional on-site collaboration in Bucharest depending on team needs
