The short version

We're Kodaa, and we are replacing physical keys, fobs, and swipe cards with digital keys that live in people's phones (Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, the works), so they can tap their way into their apartment, the gym, the car park, and the office without a second thought.

We are growing, and we're looking for a developer who wants to build things people genuinely use every single day.

What we would need from you

Your main gig will be the ResiKey web and mobile apps the products at the heart of everything we do. You'll be building features, squashing bugs, shipping updates, and seeing your work land in real people's hands (literally, it's on their phones).

From time to time you'll also work across our other web and mobile projects along with some of our live deployments. We work with some genuinely interesting tech NFC, digital wallets, smart locks, and the new generation of credential encryption standards emerging in the access control space so there's always something new to get across. If you're the kind of person who likes to keep learning, you'll fit right in.

What we are like

We're a small team, which means:

  • No layers of management. You'll work directly with the founder and the rest of the team. Good ideas get heard, and they ship fast.
  • Your work matters. What you build goes straight into real people's hands no getting lost in a giant codebase.
  • We move quickly. We're a small player in a big industry, and we like it that way.
  • We back you. New tools, new tech, learning as you go that's how we grow.
  • We do (some of us) have a sense of humour

What we're looking for

Solid experience building web and mobile applications with React and React Native

(minimum 2–3 years) tell us what you've shipped, we'd love to see it

  • Experience with Next.js and server-side rendering concepts
  • Strong JavaScript and at least intermediate-level TypeScript, plus comfort with modern web/mobile tooling and frameworks
  • A good grip on software development best practices, version control, unit testing, continuous integration
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, someone who takes ownership and runs with things.
  • A team player who communicates well (you may need to talk to some of our end users)
  • A genuine interest in keeping up with where the industry is heading
  • Bonus points if you know python or you've touched NFC, digital wallets, credential encryption, access control, or IoT, but if you're a great developer who learns fast, we'll teach you the rest

Location & work rights

This is a hybrid role based in Melbourne, some days with the team, some days from home.

You need to live in Australia and have full Australian work rights to be considered for this position.

Why you'll love it

Every time someone taps their phone on a door and it just opens that's our work in action. It's a fun product to build, in a space that's moving fast, with a team that enjoys what they do.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Send us your resume and a quick note about something you've built that you're proud of no need for a formal cover letter.
