About The Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our innovative team at BrainBox AI, a division of Trane Technologies. In this role, you will play a vital part in developing, enhancing, and maintaining cutting-edge micro-services and tools that support our Large Language Model (ARIA) platform. Your work will directly contribute to the advancement of our AI-driven climate solutions, helping to optimize building energy efficiency and sustainability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including AI research, development managers, and operations to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI and cloud technologies, making a tangible impact on climate change mitigation efforts through innovative software development.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of five years' experience in software development is required, with demonstrated expertise in Python programming and object-oriented design principles. Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as pytest, and experience working within AWS cloud infrastructure, including debugging micro-services, CloudWatch, and IAM roles, are essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK, and practical knowledge of Linux operating systems, automation, and scripting. Experience with microservices architecture, AWS managed services (Lambdas, Queues, API Gateway), and version control systems such as Git is mandatory. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for innovation are crucial for success. Knowledge of LLM architecture, FastAPI framework, and machine learning research is considered advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and implement micro-services and tools to enhance our Large Language Model (ARIA) platform, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Collaborate with development managers and cross-functional teams to plan, discuss, and execute software projects aligned with business goals.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for software upgrades and new system integrations.
  • Update existing software systems, propose and implement enhancements to improve functionality, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Design and develop new software programs, websites, and applications based on project requirements.
  • Write advanced programming code, conduct thorough code reviews, and promote best practices for high-quality software development.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and documentation to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation for new and existing software components.
  • Participate actively in daily SCRUM meetings, providing updates and collaborating with team members.
  • Work closely with the AI research team to gather feedback, incorporate latest methodologies, and optimize algorithms.
  • Document development processes, share insights, and maintain organized records for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Assist in supervising the deployment of software components, ensuring smooth integration and operation.
  • Develop, upgrade, and maintain existing services and codebases to meet evolving business needs.
  • Respond promptly to troubleshooting and maintenance tickets, resolving issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
