About The Role

Nightwing is seeking a Full Stack Web Application Developer SME for its Herndon, Virginia location. You will help deliver a suite of services that gives users tools to automate enterprise applications and manage data-centric missions. Working alongside software developers, ETL developers, and data scientists, you will enhance production applications and develop new web services on a regular delivery cadence. The role offers the opportunity to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies in production environments.

Development follows an iterative Agile approach, shaped by input from stakeholders at all levels. You will communicate with teammates, users, and leadership to clarify needs, assess changes, and demonstrate progress. This position requires a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance on day one.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, together with at least six years of relevant experience, is required. A master’s degree may count as two additional years of relevant experience. Candidates should bring substantial full-stack web application and UX/UI framework experience using Angular, React, or JavaScript; Java Spring experience is a plus. Experience requirements include six to eight years working in Linux and with microservices and containerization, such as Docker or Podman; four to six years in object-oriented programming and cloud application development or deployment; two to three years with search and analytics tools and ETL involving large structured or unstructured datasets; and two to four years designing, testing, and implementing applications. Python is preferred, though Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, and other relevant languages are also considered.

Experience with Agile practices, including Scrum or Kanban, and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub is required. You should be able to work independently and collaboratively, break concepts into manageable development tasks, and deliver work to deadlines. Experience with C2S or AWS is relevant; candidates with comparable experience using Azure, Oracle, Google, or other cloud platforms may also be considered.

Desired experience includes text analytics, machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow, data visualization, relational or non-relational databases, and natural language processing tools such as spaCy, NLTK, Stanford CoreNLP, or Gensim.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, unit test, and maintain production applications and demonstration capabilities. Build rapid prototypes to clarify requirements and inform solution design, and integrate AI/ML technologies into web applications. Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze needs, shape user stories, and translate requirements into actionable development tasks. Participate in iterative Agile delivery and meet team reporting expectations. Demonstrate features and explain technical approaches to audiences with varied levels of technical knowledge. Prepare and maintain documentation covering application workflows, integrations, and compliance procedures, along with briefing materials for program reviews and presentations. Improve application performance, scalability, and security while supporting evolving user and mission needs.
