Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer (Backend-Focused) to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of professional experience in full-stack web development, with strong expertise in Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript, along with solid hands-on experience in Next.js and React.

The primary focus of this role will be backend development and system architecture, while also contributing to frontend development when required. You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, database structures, authentication systems, integrations, and business logic, as well as maintaining and improving existing applications.

You will work with an existing Next.js frontend and NestJS/Node.js backend, requiring the ability to understand an existing codebase, identify technical issues, implement new features, optimize performance, and make sound architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.
• Build and maintain secure and well-structured RESTful APIs.
• Develop and maintain frontend applications using Next.js and React.
• Design efficient database schemas, relationships, queries, and data-access layers.
• Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control, validation, and API security.
• Integrate third-party APIs, services, webhooks, payment systems, and other external services when required.
• Optimize backend performance, database queries, API response times, and overall application reliability.
• Debug and resolve complex issues across both frontend and backend systems.
• Write clean, modular, maintainable, scalable, and testable code.
• Participate in code reviews and follow Git-based collaborative development workflows.
• Contribute to application architecture, technical planning, and engineering decisions.
• Refactor and improve existing code where necessary to improve maintainability, security, and performance.
• Work closely with frontend developers, QA engineers, designers, and other team members.
• Contribute to deployment, production maintenance, and troubleshooting when required.
• Maintain technical documentation for APIs, architecture, integrations, and development processes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.
• Strong backend development and REST API development experience.
• Professional experience with Next.js and React.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB and/or relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience with Prisma, TypeORM, Mongoose, or similar ORM/ODM technologies.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and data validation.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean-code practices.
• Experience writing unit, integration, or end-to-end tests.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with an existing codebase and take ownership of assigned features.
• Must be located in or within a commutable distance to Kathmandu, Bagmati, Nepal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Redis and caching strategies.
• Experience with WebSockets or Socket.IO.
• Understanding of microservices and message queues.
• Experience with Linux server environments and Nginx.
• Experience optimizing applications for scalability and high performance.
• Experience working on complex business applications such as ERP, CRM, inventory, financial, accounting, or business management systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
