About The Role
Nightwing is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Web Application Developer SME to join our team in Herndon, VA. This role involves working on a suite of services designed to automate a broad range of enterprise-wide applications and data-centric mission management tools. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising Software Developers, ETL Developers, and Data Scientists to enhance existing production applications and develop new web services on a routine development cadence. This position offers an exciting opportunity for software professionals eager to expand their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) applications within a mission-critical environment.
The role emphasizes iterative development using
Agile methodologies, ensuring continuous stakeholder engagement and progressive delivery. The candidate will be responsible for integrating AI/ML technologies into web applications, designing and
testing robust code, developing prototypes, and presenting features to diverse audiences. Additionally, the role involves analyzing requirements, creating user stories, drafting technical documentation, and ensuring application performance, scalability, and
security meet operational standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, with at least six years of relevant experience; a Master's degree can substitute for an additional two years of experience. They must demonstrate a strong background in web application development, UX/UI frameworks, and
cloud computing environments. Proven expertise in
Agile development practices, including Scrum and Kanban, along with familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub, is essential.
Hands-on experience with Angular,
React, or
JavaScript frameworks, coupled with knowledge of
Java Spring, Linux OS, and
cloud platforms like AWS or equivalent C2S environments, is required. The candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years working with search and analytic tools such as ElasticSearch, Solr, or OpenSearch, and experience in ETL processes involving large datasets. Microservices architecture, containerization technologies like
Docker or Podman, and object-oriented programming languages such as
Python,
Java,
JavaScript, or
C# are also critical skills.
Mandatory Skills
- Proven experience in Agile software development, including Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for documentation and collaboration.
- Extensive experience (8-10 years) building web applications using Angular, React, or JavaScript frameworks.
- At least 6-8 years working within Linux operating systems.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience deploying applications in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with search and analytic tools like ElasticSearch, Solr, or OpenSearch.
- Strong background in ETL processes managing large structured and unstructured data sets.
- Ability to design, develop, test, and deploy applications based on project requirements.
- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Podman.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages, especially Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#.
Desired Skills
- Experience with text analytics and its application in business intelligence, including search, entity extraction, sentiment analysis, and document categorization.
- Development of proof-of-concept projects evaluating machine learning algorithms and frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau, Pandas, D3.js, or ggplot.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with Natural Language Processing tools including spaCy, NLTK, Stanford CoreNLP, or Gensim.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or related fields is required, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience. A Master's degree can replace two years of experience. Candidates must hold a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph from Day 1.
