HiTradies is a job management platform for small trade businesses in Australia — electricians, plumbers, cleaners. Most run teams of one to five people and still handle quotes on paper and invoices at 9pm after a day on the tools. We replace that with one system: request → quote → job → invoice.

We're early, live with pilot customers, and building toward launch. You'd be one of the first engineers, with real say in what gets built. Our stack is C# / .NET, PostgreSQL and React.

What you'll do

• Own features as complete slices — database schema, API, and the screens a tradie actually taps on a phone in a van
• Build across quotes, jobs, invoicing, scheduling and expenses
• Work on our AI assistant layer: retrieval over help docs, AI-generated quotes and invoices, natural-language reporting
• Design PostgreSQL schemas and queries for a multi-tenant SaaS product
• Sit in the "should we build this" conversation, not just the "how"

What we're looking for

• 3+ years building web applications, with real backend depth. We work in C# / .NET, but strong Java, Go, Node.js or Python engineers ready to pick it up are welcome
• Solid with PostgreSQL — you can write a query, read a query plan, and design a schema that won't hurt in six months
• Comfortable building frontend yourself in React. You don't need to be a design specialist, but you should be able to take a feature to a usable screen without waiting on someone else
• REST API design, caching (Redis), background jobs
• English comfortable reading and writing (technical documentation, code comments, tickets, simple async communication). Speaking is a plus, not required
• Comfortable with early-stage ambiguity

Nice to have: C# / .NET · LLM features (RAG, embeddings, pgvector) · mobile-responsive UI work · B2B SaaS or startup background
