About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer specializing in Back End development to join our innovative technology team at Capital One. In this pivotal role, you will lead a diverse portfolio of technology projects, overseeing a team of experienced developers to create scalable, secure, and efficient microservices and full-stack systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing solutions that address regulatory requirements and enhance our digital banking platforms. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of four years of professional software engineering experience. Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is essential, with at least one year of hands-on cloud experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree and over seven years of experience in programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of experience working with cloud services, open-source frameworks, and agile practices. Leadership experience, particularly in managing teams, will be considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for staying current with technology trends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of complex technology projects, guiding a team of developers to deliver high-quality, scalable microservices and full-stack solutions that meet regulatory and business needs.
  • Collaborate closely with digital product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to design and implement cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences and operational efficiencies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technology trends, experimenting with new tools and frameworks, and sharing knowledge through internal and external technology communities.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Participate in code reviews, evaluate technical solutions, and contribute to architectural decisions to ensure robustness, security, and scalability of applications.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node.js, Go, and Scala, along with container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and AWS services to develop and deploy solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies through rigorous testing, documentation, and quality assurance practices.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to enable rapid and reliable software releases.
