About The Role
As a Lead Full-stack Engineer, you will develop and maintain digital solutions supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of EU-funded programmes for our Client, a European public sector organisation. You will own features across the entire stack — from front-end architecture and user interactions through to core business logic, APIs, and database interactions — and take responsibility for their
security, performance, and scalability, as well as for their deployment on
cloud platforms. You will also act as the connection point between front-end and back-end work, keeping all system components cohesively integrated.
Responsibilities
- Develop front-end website architecture, design user interactions on web pages, develop back-end web applications, and implement core business logic, maintaining features across the entire stack from designing user interfaces and consuming APIs to implementing server-side business logic and database interactions
- Apply data and security best practices — input validation, authentication and authorisation, secure storage, and compliant logging and monitoring — and ensure web applications are optimised for performance and functionality across different browsers and devices
- Bridge the gap between front-end and back-end developers, facilitating communication and ensuring cohesive integration of all system components
- Design responsive applications, design and develop APIs, and participate in the design and creation of scalable software
- Write clean, functional code on the front and back end, and maintain code integrity and organisation
- Perform unit and integration testing, debug, fix and validate code changes, and compile and analyse data, processes and code to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement
- Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms using CI/CD pipelines and containerisation technologies
- Deliver solutions that fulfil functional and non-functional requirements and align with user expectations, and write technical documentation
Requirements
- A university degree at master's level (or 5 years of higher education) with a minimum of 15 years of IT professional experience
- 5 years of experience with back-end technologies: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Hibernate
- 3 years of experience with APIs and messaging, covering all of Kafka, REST, and SOAP
- 3 years of experience with DevOps and container orchestration using Kubernetes
- 3 years of experience with the workflow tool Camunda
- 5 years of experience with EU cohesion policy and Structural Funds, supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of digital solutions for EU-funded programmes
- Mandatory certifications: Oracle SCJP 6.0 (Sun Certified Java Programmer), OMG-OCUP-100 (OMG Certified UML Professional), Oracle 1Z0-047 (Oracle Database SQL Expert), and APMG Agile Project Management Foundation. An AWS Certified Developer – Associate, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, or equivalent certification is optional
- Valued in addition: experience with front-end technologies including JavaScript, Angular, HTML, CSS, and TypeScript, and years of experience beyond the minimum levels in back-end technologies, APIs and messaging, Kubernetes, and EU cohesion policy and Structural Funds
- Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level C1 or higher (CEFR), together with the capacity to ramp up quickly on new projects, collaborate within teams and take part in multi-lingual meetings, apply security and cloud best practices, integrate front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines, and work both autonomously and as part of a team with a results-oriented mindset
