About The Role
The Senior Software Engineer at Mastercard plays a pivotal role in designing, developing,
testing, and maintaining complex software solutions that drive our Decision Management Program (DMP). This program provides industry-leading intelligence that enables faster and smarter decision-making across the payment journey and beyond. As an experienced individual contributor, you will serve as a
technical leader and mentor within your team, applying deep
technical expertise to solve non-trivial problems, influence design decisions, and improve engineering practices. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, contributing across the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment and maintenance.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that enhance customer experience, optimize operational efficiency, and support Mastercard’s strategic objectives. You will also be responsible for driving adoption of technology standards, reviewing code and
automation work, and mentoring less experienced team members to foster a
culture of continuous improvement and
technical excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, with extensive experience across multiple
programming languages, particularly
Java. A bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science or a related field is required, along with proven success in delivering high-quality software projects. Experience with AI, performance tuning,
automation, and application lifecycle management tools is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a passion for continuous learning and challenging opportunities. Strong decision-making skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently under pressure are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end software delivery tasks, including code development, testing, deployment, release, configuration, and documentation at the application and component levels.
- Troubleshoot and refactor existing code to ensure exceptional quality and performance.
- Adopt and implement new programming languages and architectural patterns as needed for project requirements.
- Participate actively in agile processes, contribute to prioritization, and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Automate build, operational, and runtime aspects of software to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Drive technical discussions around code design, system architecture, and process improvements.
- Focus on integrating services that enhance the customer journey and overall experience.
- Engage in demos and acceptance discussions with product owners to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the technical architecture and system dependencies.
- Promote and uphold technology standards, review team members’ code, and ensure quality automation practices.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements, waste reduction, and productivity gains.
- Share best practices and reusable patterns within the team to drive efficiency and innovation.
