Lorien's leading banking client is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join a major greenfield technology programme within Financial Services.

You will be part of a team building a brand-new Asset Servicing platform, replacing both an existing legacy internal system and a US-based vendor solution. This is a long-term transformation programme offering the opportunity to work across modern front-end, BFF and microservices-based backend technologies.

The role requires genuine full-stack development experience, although candidates can be stronger on either the front-end or backend.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Full Stack Developer who is comfortable working across Angular/React, TypeScript/Node.js, Java microservices and SQL. You may naturally lean towards either front-end or backend engineering, but you will have sufficient experience across the stack to contribute to the end-to-end solution.

Previous experience building platforms within Financial Services and particularly Asset Servicing or settlement environments would be a significant advantage.

This role is based in London.

This role will be Via Umbrella.

Working in a Hybrid Model of 50% a week on site.

  • Design and develop backend services using Java and microservices architecture.
  • Support the migration from Java 8/11 towards Java 21/23.
  • Develop and integrate solutions using MS SQL Server.
  • Work closely with engineering, architecture, product and business teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design, architecture decisions and engineering best practices.
  • Support the replacement and migration away from existing legacy and vendor platforms.

Technical Experience

  • Strong commercial Full Stack Development experience.
  • Angular development experience preferred; strong React candidates will also be considered.
  • Experience working with Micro Front End architectures.
  • TypeScript / Node.js, ideally within a BFF architecture.
  • Strong Java development experience, ideally Java 8/11 and exposure to newer versions.
  • Experience developing microservices-based applications.
  • Strong relational database experience, ideally MS SQL Server.
  • Experience working on complex enterprise-scale applications.

Highly Desirable:

  • Architecture and solution design experience.
  • Experience modernising or replacing legacy technology platforms.

  • Trade corrections and correction lifecycles.
  • Clearing and execution.
  • Trade booking and downstream processing.
  • Understanding of how transactions flow across front, middle and back-office systems.
