Role Description This is a remote contract role for a Software Engineer at Joyfullwell. The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power the KidCareIQ platform, including APIs, data models, and integrations with CRM, classroom management, billing, and communication tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, efficient, and testable code, reviewing code from peers, troubleshooting issues across the stack, and optimizing system performance and reliability. The role will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and customer-facing teams to translate childcare workflows into scalable technical solutions and participate in sprint planning and continuous improvement efforts. The Software Engineer will also contribute to documentation, security best practices, and deployment processes to ensure a stable, secure, and high-quality platform experience.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience building production-ready applications and services.
  • Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, working with APIs, databases, and cloud-based architectures.
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and patterns.
  • Experience with modern languages and frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or similar) and relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies is beneficial.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment, communicate clearly, and document work thoroughly.
  • Prior experience in SaaS, edtech, or childcare-related products is a plus, as is exposure to AI-driven features and data privacy best practices.
