We are looking for a Junior
Web Developer to support the technical side of our financial advisory work. This role involves building and maintaining internal tools that help our team process complex
data for a major engagement with a client in the East.
About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped.
We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.
The Role
In this position, you will work closely with our analysts and principals to turn financial models into functional
web applications. Because our firm operates in a fully remote capacity, you will need to be self directed and capable of managing your own schedule while meeting project deadlines. You will spend your time creating visualizations that make complex economic findings easier for our team and our clients to understand. This is a role for someone who enjoys the logic of coding and wants to see how software can provide clarity in the world of high stakes finance.
What You Will Be Doing - Developing and maintaining interactive web dashboards that display financial projections and pricing models.
- Writing clean, functional code to automate the processing of large datasets from various sources.
- Collaborating with senior team members to ensure technical tools accurately reflect the commercial logic of our projects.
- Updating and troubleshooting internal applications used for our current engagement with a client in the East.
- Building reusable components and libraries for future use across different advisory projects.
- Assisting in the migration of spreadsheet based analysis into more stable and scalable web based formats.
- Ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive financial data within our custom applications.
- Testing new features for usability and logical consistency before they are shared with the broader team.
What You Bring - A degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience from a coding bootcamp.
- Foundational knowledge of frontend technologies, specifically HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Basic familiarity with at least one modern framework like React, Vue, or Angular.
- A curious mindset and a desire to understand the underlying financial logic of the tools you are building.
- Excellent written communication skills, which are essential for our remote work environment.
- An organized approach to problem solving and the ability to track multiple technical tasks at once.
- Comfort working with data and a basic understanding of how databases and APIs function.
- Interest in business economics and a willingness to learn how pricing and capital allocation affect corporate performance.
What We Offer - Full time employment with the flexibility of a permanent remote work arrangement.
- Competitive pay that is attractive for an entry level technical role in today's market.
- Direct access to senior principals, offering a chance to learn about financial advisory at a high level.
- A work environment focused on logical rigor and factual evidence rather than corporate hierarchies.
- The opportunity to build tools that have a direct effect on major commercial decisions.
- Paid time off and support for professional development in your technical field.
- A small, focused team where your contributions are recognized and your voice is heard.
Working at Blue Oak Consulting means choosing clarity over complexity. We value people who can look at a problem, identify the inconsistencies, and build a solution that stands up to scrutiny. By developing the technical infrastructure for our advisory work, you help ensure that our clients receive advice based on solid evidence and reliable tools. We focus on results and the logic behind them, creating an environment where disciplined thinking is the standard.
