About the Role


This opportunity is for a Software Engineer, Flights and Loyalty focused on full-stack or backend development for a flight routing and booking engine. The role owns major feature releases across flight search, booking creation, and post-booking fulfillment, including award ticket pricing and loyalty point transfers. Working alongside a resident flights expert, the position helps shape the Flights & Loyalty team and expand airline loyalty program integrations.


The technical environment includes Python/Django, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS. The work involves airline and GDS integrations, complex communication protocols, and partner data schemas. Practical knowledge of award travel, credit card points, and airline rewards search engines is central to the role, with opportunities to build foundational systems and influence technical and strategic direction.


What You'll Do


  • Own and deliver major feature releases throughout the flight booking funnel, covering flight search, booking creation, and post-booking fulfillment.
  • Build logic for award ticket inventory pricing and loyalty point transfers to partners.
  • Integrate with external airlines and GDS partners, working through their complex communication protocols and data schemas.
  • Help scale the flight routing and booking engine and expand flight search and booking integrations with airline loyalty programs.
  • Work alongside a resident flights expert to help shape the Flights & Loyalty team.


Qualifications


Required Experience


  • 6+ years of engineering experience, with recent experience writing production-grade Python.
  • Experience with GDS systems such as Amadeus or Sabre.
  • Technical experience with Python/Django, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS.


Required Skills


  • Practical knowledge of credit card points and travel hacking, including frequent personal experience booking flights with points.
  • Strong familiarity with navigating airline rewards search engines.
  • An interest in building flight inventory scrapers, ownership of multiple credit cards, and a history of using FlyerTalk.
