Vuon is the correctness layer for AI-generated analytics. As data teams hand more of their work to AI — writing SQL, building reports, answering questions in natural language — the hard part is no longer producing an answer. It's trusting it. A query that runs cleanly can still be quietly, expensively wrong. Vuon sits between the data and the people who depend on it, catching the errors, drift, and silent wrong numbers before they reach a dashboard, a board deck, or a decision.

We're a small, senior team, dual-headquartered in Tokyo and San Francisco and backed by exceptional investors. It's early — the work you do here shapes the product, the standards, and the company.

The role

We're looking for a full-stack engineer who owns things end to end. You'll work across the entire product — the systems that detect correctness issues in customers' data, the services that orchestrate them, and the interfaces that make it all feel obvious. High autonomy, small team: you take a problem, decide how to solve it, and ship it.

What you'll do

• Build features end to end, from data systems to UI, and own them in production.
• Work across the stack: a TypeScript/React frontend, backend services, data pipelines, and the query layer connecting to customer warehouses.
• Design clean, intuitive APIs and the systems behind them, including secure integrations with customer data environments (BigQuery, Snowflake, Postgres, NetSuite).
• Debug hard problems spanning the frontend, backend, infrastructure, and real customer data.
• Hold a high bar for craft, performance, and polish across everything you touch.
• Help set the engineering standards, tooling, and culture of an early team.

Who you are

A strong full-stack engineer with several years shipping production software.

• Fluent in TypeScript and React, and at home designing and tuning backend systems and APIs.
• Fluent in SQL, with real interest in how data is modeled, queried, and where it goes wrong.
• A craftsperson who notices the half-pixel that's off and the API that's awkward to use.
• At ease in ambiguity and energized by an early-stage, blank-page problem space.
• A clear communicator who works autonomously across a distributed team.

Nice to have

• Data warehouses, analytics infrastructure, or data-quality / observability tooling.
• Fintech, payments, or other domains where correctness is non-negotiable.
• Cloudflare Workers / Durable Objects, AWS, modern data platforms.
• A track record at design-led companies.
