About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our dynamic team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying advanced software solutions that support enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Your expertise will contribute to building AI-enabled applications, autonomous agents, and integration components that enhance our organization’s ability to leverage next-generation intelligent technologies. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams—including product owners, data scientists, cybersecurity specialists, and cloud engineers—you will develop reliable, secure, and mission-aligned tools that improve decision-making, automation, and operational efficiency. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or a master's degree with at least four years of experience. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C#, Java, or TypeScript, and have experience integrating AI/ML systems, including large language models, agent frameworks, and automation orchestration platforms. Familiarity with event-driven architectures, microservices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines is essential. Candidates must have experience designing applications within secure, highly regulated, or mission-critical environments and possess knowledge of cloud ecosystems like Azure, AWS, or OCI, along with modern data platforms. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of AI-powered applications, tools, and intelligent agents aligned with enterprise strategy and operational needs.
• Build, test, and deploy scalable backend and frontend components utilizing modern software engineering practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, establish architecture patterns, and identify technical integration points.
• Maintain high software quality through automated testing, comprehensive code reviews, detailed documentation, and performance monitoring.
• Integrate AI/ML models, cloud-native services, and workflow automation platforms into production systems, ensuring seamless operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and system integration challenges promptly and effectively.
• Produce clear technical specifications, diagrams, and user documentation to facilitate understanding and future development.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, data governance policies, and system reliability requirements.
