About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer – Developer (Mid Level or Senior) to join our Phantom Works Advanced Mission Planning team located in Berkeley, MO. This role involves supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization, focusing on developing cutting-edge autonomous systems. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment, ensuring the delivery of robust, innovative solutions that meet industry, safety, and regulatory standards. Your expertise will contribute to pioneering projects that extend current capabilities and open new markets in defense and aerospace sectors. The ideal candidate enjoys working collaboratively, demonstrates a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, and thrives in a dynamic, multi-program environment. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or have equivalent relevant work experience. Candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance post-hire. A minimum of five years of software engineering experience is required, with at least three years of hands-on experience in C++ programming. Experience in autonomy and robotics software techniques, real-time software development, and Agile methodologies is essential. Preferred qualifications include active security clearance, experience with mission systems architectures, electromagnetic warfare, radar, simulation development, and familiarity with software development tools such as JIRA, GIT, and Jenkins. Candidates with a strong background in system architecture, open mission systems, and command and control interfaces will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain non-embedded software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, safety, and regulations.
  • Translate customer needs into detailed software designs and specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on quality and innovation.
  • Develop use cases, perform software architecture trade studies, and implement modifications to meet evolving requirements.
  • Create interface definitions and develop robust software interfaces to facilitate system integration.
  • Conduct comprehensive unit and integration testing to verify software functionality and performance.
  • Participate in peer reviews to uphold code quality and standards.
  • Support system and flight testing activities, providing technical expertise and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain detailed software documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
