Company Description Kavaho is an Australian software technology company focused on simplifying residential property management through a cloud-based platform (www.kavaho.com). Its cloud-based property management software, also called Kavaho, is built using modern JavaScript, Angular and React with backend RESTful APIs built using Node.js and Express.js. It offers digital tools in one single system that enable landlords and property managers to efficiently manage leasing, rent collection, maintenance, inspections, invoicing, and financial reporting. Our goal is to streamline property management processes, improve transparency, and enhance the experience for both landlords and tenants.


Kavaho is a start-up which is soon launching into a crowded market place. It has bold ambitions and key differentiators which set it apart from the competition. Delivery of the next suite of functionality will accelerate its market acquisition and set it on a path of rapid growth.


Role Description We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to work remotely and in a full-time capacity contributing to the design, development, delivery and enhancement of web-based applications within a collaborative Agile environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include building and improving front-end user interfaces with modern JavaScript frameworks, developing and maintaining back-end RESTful APIs, and ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components. The role involves collaborating on product and design to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, writing clean and testable code, and participating in code reviews. The engineer will also help optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to improving security, reliability, and user experience across the platform.

Required Skills

  • Full-Stack Web Development: Architecting, building, and maintaining responsive web applications from end to end.
  • Core Frontend Technologies: Modern JavaScript (ES6+), clean CSS/SASS, and responsive layout frameworks.
  • Backend Engineering: Building scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
  • Modern Frontend Frameworks: Deep practical expertise in Angular or React for complex single-page applications (SPAs).
  • Cross-Platform Mobile Apps: Developing and deploying hybrid mobile applications for iOS and Android (e.g., Ionic or React Native).
  • AI-Assisted Engineering: Utilizing AI tools to boost velocity while maintaining absolute personal ownership of code quality, security, and logic.
  • Database Management: Schema design, querying, and optimization for AWS DynamoDB or alternative NoSQL databases, alongside S3 file storage.
  • Cloud Architecture: Hands-on deployment, hosting, and service management within AWS Cloud or Azure environments.
  • Agile Project Delivery: Collaboration and task tracking using Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
  • Autonomous Execution: Proven capability to solve complex problems independently with minimal supervision.
  • English Communication: Proficiency in spoken and written English for direct team collaboration.


Good to have

  • Critical Thinking: The ability to confidently question logic, challenge ideas, participate in design discussions, and present effective solution options.
  • DevOps & Automation: Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless, automated code delivery.
  • Property Management Domain: Prior experience working with property management software or similar real estate technology platforms.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.


Engagement

This is a contract position for an experienced independent freelancer or a company providing skilled staff.

Initial contract term is 3 months with a high likelihood of multiple extensions for the right candidate. 


Hours of work

Typically 40 hours per week and 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Availability to attend a weekly team meeting held on Tuesdays from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm AEST.

Self-autonomy and flexibility are highly valued.


Location of work

Fully remote i.e., your own home / office.


Reporting line

You will report directly to our Lead Developer who himself is from Indonesia.


Rate

Monthly Retainer or Day Rate (in USD or IDR).

Company shares option.
